A Weekend in Dubai

Dubai is a breath-taking wonderland, with underwater resorts, indoor ski slopes, mammoth aquariums and the world’s tallest building. The glitzy and glamorous city with its magnificent skyscrapers is worth a visit at least once in your lifetime. This weekend itinerary is great for anyone who wants to hit all the best places in the city of gold in a short amount of time.

Day 1

  • Jumeriah Mosque

The Old Dubai along with its vast deserts and monumental sights holds its own charm. Your first day should be spent exploring this part of the city which might not be as dazzling, but definitely holds a lot of natural beauty and wonder. The Jumeirah Mosque has a beautiful, mystical architecture and offers religious tours. It is a great way to start your day.

  • Dubai Creek

The Deira side and Bur Dubai has all the souks of old Dubai, including Gold Souk, Al Bastakiya, Spice Souk and the wonderful Al Fahidi museum. You can also ride a wooden boat called the Abra and explore the creek. It has some great variety of cafés and teahouse that you can stop by for lunch.

  • Desert Safari

Spend the rest of your day at the desert safari. Take a  bumpy camel ride and watch the beautiful sunset from your desert camp, heat up the grills for barbecue and enjoy the traditional Arabic belly dance. If you are in the mood, you can visit Al Rigga Street in Deira for some refreshing Arabic tea, shisha or traditional Arabic snacks.

Day 2

  • Burj Khalifa

The 2nd day should be dedicated in exploring the modern Dubai. Burj Khalifa is one of the main attractions in the city. You can see the superb sunrise early morning from the observation deck of the tower from an incredible height of 2,722 feet!

  • The Malls

Dubai has one of the largest shopping complex in the entire world. The Dubai Mall offers not just shopping and dining, but other activities like Dubai Aquarium, Dubai Dino and much more. Don’t forget to take pictures by the Human Waterfalls and Dubai Fountain. Afterwards you can head on to the Fashion Avenue for some shopping and to grab a bite to eat. Also include the Mall of Emirates in your trip. It has an indoor ski arena and over 700 stores to explore.

  • Burj Al Arab Beach

Give your feet a little rest after walking around the mall for hours. This beach offers breathtaking views of Burj Al Arab, which happens to be the only 7 star hotel in the world. Take a dive in the ocean or sit under the shades of the palm tree and soak your feet in wet sand.

  • Atlantis the Palm resort

This is the water side of the city with boat rides, sunset tours and Dubai ferry from where you can appreciate the skyscrapers and the skyline of the city.

If you have some time left at night, do stop by the Dubai mall for a fabulous water fountain show for the perfect end to an adventurous weekend. Have a last cup of Arabic tea and some shawarma as you bid this magic land adieu.
